Your Change Facilitator: Clarissa Mosley B.Sc Hons
As a registered psychologist and certified psychotherapist Clarissa possesses a wealth of knowledge and skills holding 2 degress and a diploma totalling 10 years university and tertiary training with ongoing professional development. Clarissa is known for her warm empathic approach and straightforward life wisdom gained through over 30 years in the field. Her mission has been to find out all she can about emotional healing and transformation, personally investigating a plethora of approaches alongside a rich journey of parenting, life experience and exploring pathways to health and wellness.
Clarissa's therapeutic approach integrates various modalities to provide you with the most effective and tailored support possible. Drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), she helps you identify and modify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior. Through interpersonal therapy, and her training in PACT couples therapy, she explores your relationships and social interactions, fostering healthier connections and communication.
Clarissa was originally trained in Gestalt Therapy, one of the original self-awareness and personal growth therapies that helps you focus on the present moment and work through outworn ego defences. Dovetailling this with the popular adjunct of Internal Family Systems (IFS) Clarissa can guide you to witness disparate parts of self, and explore depths that may never be touched with regular CBT. Further, she is currently training in Systemic Family Constellations, informing the often neglected element of intergenerational effects.
With additional expertise in somatic and trauma-informed therapy, Clarissa recognises the profound impact that body memory and past traumatic experiences can have on your current emotional regulation. When the time is right, painful experiences can be processed with Brain Spotting Therapy (BSB), an elegant and profound alternative to EMDR.
Clarissa has studied nutrition and specialist courses to understand more about the effects of biochemical imbalances on mood. With her knowledge and awareness, she can help you explore the interplay between your mental health and physiological factors, offering insights around health practices to support your well-being.
Having undergone extensive advanced courses in mindfulness and expanding awareness, Clarissa's interest in transpersonal or spiritual psychology provides a unique dimension to her practice. While maintaining a non-religious (secular) approach, she acknowledges the significance of the soul, spirit, or connection to the creative field of source energy in personal growth and self-discovery. This holistic perspective allows her to guide you in exploring your deeper sense of meaning, purpose, and connection to something greater than yourself.
With such extensive training and experience, the only thing to establish will be your willingness to engage in the work necessary to bring you in contact with the fullness of who you can be. While sometimes difficult, the journey is well worth the effort.

Difference between a Psychologist and Psychotherapist
Psychologist and Psychotherapist
As both a psychologist and a psychotherapist Clarissa offers her clients the best of both therapeutic worlds; professional accreditation, post-graduate university training and medicare rebates with the deeper insights and potential of ongoing psychotherapy. Longer term work utilises the pearls of Gestalt Therapy effective for the healing of old wounds, developing confidence through self knowledge and finding greater meaning in life and relationships.
Psychologist-psychotherapists are fairly rare. Most therapists choose either path as the training and accreditation to do both is quite a commitment. Psychology follows the scientist-practitioner model using 'evidence-based' (scientifically assessed) strategies to help people change un-productive thought and behavioural patterns. Whereas psychotherapy deals with the deeper levels of emotion that are often the underlying drivers of the incessant thoughts and unwanted behaviour of resistant anxiety, depression and other disorders.
Clarissa's life and work experience and the broad area's her study has covered mean her work can be of a great depth and breath. She has upheld an ongoing commitment to her own personal growth which enables a clean and clear view of her clients situations. When therapists neglect their own issues there is an increased chance of their clients being contaminated with unresolved issues that belong to the therapist, not them. Clarissa is also passionate about neuroscience, so she can educate you on what your brains is contributing to your situation and also keep an eye out for signs you might have a bio-chemical imbalance that is exacerbating how you feel. Her passion is personal growth facilitated by achieving a balance in the neurological- physiological system.
Clarissa's training background in personal development has 'Lineage'. This means she has received training from those who were founders (or were immediately connected with the founders) of an origninal system or therapeutic framework, as mentioned in the section above.
Since her first private practice was established in 1999 Clarissa has performed various roles as a counsellor and group facilitator within community and private organisations. Her most recent position was with Relationships Australia utilizing the post Milan Systemic framework for working with couples and families. Since then Clarissa has completed intensive training in the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT) a cutting edge way to approach problems in relationships. Clarissa continues her education now branching into the broader areas of consciousness development.
